The Psync Genie S operates exclusively on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and does not support the 5 GHz band. This should not be confused with 5G cellular networks. While your smartphone may use 5G or 4G for data, this only affects how your phone connects to the internet when Wi-Fi is unavailable—such as when using the Psync app to access your camera remotely.
Distinction Between 5 GHz Wi-Fi and 5G Cellular Networks:
-
5 GHz Wi-Fi: A wireless frequency band used in Wi-Fi networks, offering faster speeds over shorter distances compared to 2.4 GHz, which provides longer range and greater stability.
- 5G Cellular Networks: A mobile network technology that provides fast data speeds and is used for internet access on mobile devices. Unlike Wi-Fi, it operates over a cellular network and is not dependent on local routers or Wi-Fi connections.
